Sometimes, things just click. The beautiful “Aha” moment. For Wendy, a young girl that I have been meeting with for almost two years, that moment happened this week. (Read her full story HERE.) As I walked into our weekly meeting, it began like it usually does. She was telling me about Nursing classes and sharing her excitement over passing her first term with flying colors. And suddenly, in the midst of catching up, she looked at me with very wide eyes and said, “Lindsey, guess what I realized this week!”
“Remember when I met your mentor from when you were my age and you told me about how much she taught you? And how now you are teaching me about Jesus and helping me to follow Him? Well, I think that’s what Jesus said we were supposed to do right before He went to Heaven. And soon, I will need to teach someone else. That’s how the whole world will be able to know about Him. Right?” As tears welled up in my eyes, I smiled at her and replied, “That’s exactly right. Until the whole world hears.”
Wendy just gets it. God is revealing Himself to her, as well as, His plan for the world. She wants to fulfill His final command to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything He has commanded us. (Mat 28:16-20) Wendy’s not just a disciple of Jesus anymore, she’s on her way to also being a Disciple-Maker!
Praise God for Wendy! Pray that she would continue to be a light to her community and would have opportunities to disciple others.
