Our Story

David & Lindsey Owens

We were married in July of 2011 and moved to Guatemala three days later to teach abroad. In December of the same year, God put a strong desire on our hearts to serve Him in fulltime ministry. Since then we have been teaching the Bible and discipling everyone that the Lord has put in our path. In April of 2016, the Lord blessed us with our first child, Cooper Chess Owens.

God has put a burden on our hearts for intentional long-term discipleship. David works with an organization called Chosen People International. Chosen People partners with local churches all across Guatemala to provide pastoral training and discipleship to their pastors. In Guatemala, there are more than 2.2 million pastoral leaders, and of these only 5% are trained for ministry. There are a few seminaries, but most are too expensive for the local pastors to afford. Chosen People’s program and curriculum addresses this issue directly. Through group instruction and individual discipleship, David helps equip local pastors to make disciples through sound theology and doctrine.

Lindsey spends her days working with single mothers by providing sustainable job opportunities. Through partnerships with businesses in the United States, she is able to provide income to women in local villages. The women are not only able to provide for their families but they are gaining an incredible amount of self-worth and value through their jobs. The close working environment has created a support system for the single mothers and countless opportunities for Lindsey to pour into their lives through relationship and intentional discipleship.

In everything we do, our goal is to aid in the spiritual and physical needs of God’s people in Guatemala through discipleship, empowering them to live out the Great Commission in their own culture and communities.

“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.” –Colossians 1:28
