Meet Adalis. She is 19 years old and the oldest of 5 girls in her family. She is one of the only young people we know in El Rosario who is in college. In a culture where most don’t make it past elementary school, she is an example and role model to many. Adalis has been helping with the Vencedor Boys Academy since its start in 2013. Her main role, is to help tutor the boys with their current studies. However, not a day goes by where she doesn’t go above and beyond to help us and pour into the Vencedor Boys.
Since the beginning, we have desired to put more and more responsibility into the hands of the locals and assist them in reaching their community for Christ. We desire to empower them, and as weird as it sounds, work ourselves out of a job. We desire to help kickstart the gifts, talents, and love God has already placed within the people of El Rosario and encourage them to be missionaries in their own backyard. Adalis is a beautiful example of this. She actively studies the bible with us. She encourages the boys to not only pay attention while in class, but to excel in their homework from the public school. She serves and works alongside our cook to make sure each boy receives a healthy lunch everyday. She is flexible to help teach when she can as well as show up for whatever random task is asked of her. She is a missionary. She is a light shining brightly in her community pointing others to the Savior of the world! What a blessing it is to have her on our team!
We praise God for Adalis. Please pray for blessings over her as she studies and spreads the light of Jesus in her community.
