The beginning of a new year always makes me excited, getting to look forward to the year to come! I start making plans and dreaming of the future. This time last year, David and I had a long discussion about where we saw ourselves 5 years from now. What did we want to see in our ministry? Where did we want to be? One of the main goals we had was to begin moving out of El Rosario. Not because we don’t LOVE it and the people, but because we felt God calling us to expand and make disciples in other parts of Guatemala.
Well, like all things, God is always 10 steps ahead of us and turned our 5 year plan into a 5 MONTH plan!
This week David taught his first training center of 2017 in Mazatenango, Guatemala. Chosen People International has been training a group of 30 pastors in this town for almost 2 years. In March, this group will graduate from their program. David was able to share biblical truth with these pastors about what it means to work in full-time ministry and the responsibility that comes with being a minister of the Gospel. With over 5 years of experience, he was able to not only encourage these men from his own experiences but give gentle “gut punches” as he urged them to continue sharing the Good News and making disciples in their own churches and communities. These 30 men will be able to go back to their congregations and share all that they learned in the training. The teaching will truly have a ripple effect in reaching many in Guatemala! It was so amazing to have the first glimpse into how God is already working this year! And a great reminder that His plans are bigger and greater than ours!
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
P.S. New training centers will be opening up all over Guatemala in March! We need your help to begin training 200 new pastors in 2017. For only $10 a month you can help provide a theological education to a local pastor in Guatemala. Click HERE to get involved or email David at firstname.lastname@example.org.
